Pop Star

    Michael Jordan Born February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, but grew up in North Carolina. He was fourth of five children in his family Michael was cut from his high school varsity as a sophomore, but worked harder than ever to achieve his goal of making the team. Michael improved dramatically, becoming a McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Game by his senior year at Laney High School. In the college years, he Made the game winning shot in the 1982 NCAA Championship as a freshman Won College player of the year in 1984.He decided to leave college early and enter NBA draft, he was selected with the third overall pick by Chicago Bulls. He after 8 years of struggling, Michael Jordan finally won 6 NBA championships, Jordan amassed 6 NBA Championship, 5 times MVP’s and 6 times NBA Final MVP’s and is considered the greatest of all-time, he also is 1988 Slam Dunk championship. Why I choose this person because he told us never gave up, if you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks, I've had them , everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

Reflection about the course

  Time is running fast, at the begining of this semester, my friend told me pop culture is very cool stuff, it's all about music, star, movie. I felt curious and took this courese. We have learened culture, pop culture, moive, and music.  I don't even know what pop culture is before I took this course. I have knew something about pop culture. Popular culture is the academic discipline studying pop culture from a critical theory perspective. It is generally considered a combination studies and culture studies. Populous mean the people, cultures means shared attitude, also means convention and invention.  I also learned many important terms. For example Mainstream, Ethnocentrism , subculture, culture and so on. The most interesting part for me is music because we listen to music everyday; therefore, music has become part of my daily life. we can see people listening to the music whereever they can. We can see them on the bus, train and even walking, sometimes a song can describe the mood of person. I learned something that I didn't know about pop culture.

   I'm going to summary Cultural Identity Glog.  The poster can represent who we really are, I posted some famous fodd from my country that I also like it. Mupo Toufu and carb over rice is very popular in every chinese resstaurant. I  post my favorite pop star, which is Katy Perry. She has beautiful voice that impressed me. Firework is one of my favourite song from her, because this song inspired me a lot and encouraging me. We are facing challenge everyday,  we have get through these changlle. In life, the people are challenge to get they are really want to be, hopefully, we can carry this song and inspired. Find out those changlle are very diffcult to get past. I also post  Kobe Bryant, he is my favourtie super star since I was in China.

Reggae

   Today I'm going to talk about reggae. Regggae is a music genre developed in Jamaica in the late 1960s, and still popular today. Reggae is alwats played in 4/4 time or swing time because the smmetrical rhythnm pattem does not lend itself to other timesingnatures such as 3/4 time. The music is often very simple, and sometimes a whole song will consist of no more than one or two chords, Prominent artists is Bob Narley, Dennis Brown. There are many instruments of reggae. For exmple, drums, gurais, paino, horns and percussion.

Fad

   My fad is p2p, actually p2p is began in 2000s, we also can p2p as peer to peer.  P2P is computing or networking is a distributed application architecture that partitions tasks or workloads among peers. Peers are equally privileged, equipotent participants in the application. They are said to form a peer-to-peer network of nodes. Peer-to-peer systems often implement an abstract overlay network, built at Application Layer, on top of the native or physical network topology. Such overlays are used for indexing and peer discovery and make the P2P system independent from the physical network topology.

Unit Reflection

  This unit is all about music, we listen to music everyday; therefore, music has become part of my daily life. Sometimes a song can describe the mood of person. To many people in many culture, music is an important of their way of life. I have read the article call Same Old Song. In my opinion, this article is about how difference between each decade, and how does that influence generation. Actually this article is kind of hard for me to read it because there are a lot of vocabulary I don't understand. We also mention rap, rapping is a primary ingredient in hip hop and reggae. I just know rap is about speak fast before my teacher talking rap. The work sheet call top 40, and most of top ten song I listened before. My Aha moment was I enjoyed the song presentation because we can share the song with each other. I knew a lot good song after this presentation. There are many types of genre in music, especially  the blues in Chicago is very famous in the world. I would put my genre presentation which is Reggae in bumper sticker. The idea about this chapter is music.

    This song is about Taylor Swift wrote a song to apology to Taylor Laughter that was her first time she'd said sorry to someone in a song. When I first time hear this song the rhythm and melody very impressed. I love this song because this song told us lesson.  when you did something, you never got a change back to that time to fix it. Just like the world don't have regret medicine to eat.

Unit Reflection 3

     We have studied something about pop culture and movie, but this charter is more about movie. I just know a few thing about movie before this unit began. My Aha moment was I learned there are eight main categories of film. For example action, adventure, comedy, crime gangster, drama, epics historical, horror and musicals. I also reading the list of therms about movie. movie development refers to the initial stages of working a story idea into a viable script. We were reading why Tyler Perry is money machine and reflection culture in film. We also been thinking what relationship between Oscar and Hollywood, are they going to separate. I would put the movie terms and something about Oscar and Hollywood in my bumper sticker. The idea about this charter is everything about film, how to create a movie. There are several ways how I learned this unit, I read the book and do these assignment. I also think movie review.  We have learned about eight main characteristic of film. Each type has different characteristic. I have to remember these important characteristic and share with my family 

Movie Review

The movie I saw that was call Buddha Mountain. This movie is talking about three young people did not do well on the college entrance examination. When they get lost, they rented a house whit a middle age landlady. They talked to each other very well and friction each other, they had been through to a lot of stuff together. Finally and comfort each other warm, and work out of trouble. My evaluate rate for this movie is 4 out of five. This movie wants to tell us we are facing problems everyday, we should help each other out. The director call Yu li. When the movie begin the landlady can't the fact that her son died, she wants to commit suicide, but the three young people save her life. Three young people stole her money and used her broken car. Finally they went to the Buddha mountain, but the movie ending didn't tell us the landlady died or what. someone says she jumped a cliff, but also say that she senses a monk.

  We have learned a lot of thin since the last time collect portfolio. I don't even know what pop culture is before I took this course. I have knew something about pop culture. Popular culture is the academic discipline studying pop culture from a critical theory perspective. It is generally considered a combination studies and culture studies. Populous mean the people, cultures means shared attitude, also means convention and invention. Our everyday interactions need and desires. Why we study pop culture? Because to understand culture very clearly, also influence and impact on individuals or families. There are some concepts about how to learn pop culture. We should production analysis, historical analysis and content analysis. Culture is defined as the shared patterns of behavior and interaction. My Aha moment was I didn't expect we have many presentation after portfolio one. I listened a lot presentation last 2 week. I will put something what I got from their presentation. Such as Pop star presentation, fad presentation and team presentation. There are a lot of thing relative with pop culture. We should know that.

Reflection

  I don't even know what pop culture is before i took this coursr before. After 4 weeks, i knew someting about culture. There are many definitions about. I think pop culture is around us evertday. Culture is defined as the shared patterns of behaavior and interactions, it is existence of a society. So culture to be closely linked with us. After that, I also learned many important terms. For example Mainstream, Ethnocentrism , subculture, culture and so on. After i done with the worksheet call Race. i know American contain many racial, that why American has a lot of culture from all over the world. My Aha moment was making avatar and culture identity poster, especially during the time i was mkaing, that was fun to me. I will put culture and theri important term on a bumper sticker. I will use those key term to share ot my friends. Because those key term is very important and basic thing about culture.
